Intarsia Scarflet in DK Weight

Explore creative colorwork and clever construction in this hands-on class focused on creating an intarsia scarflet in DK weight yarn. The project begins knitted flat, allowing students to become comfortable with clean edges, shaping, and color changes. Midway through the piece, the scarflet transitions into an intarsia-in-the-round section that forms a built-in opening to secure the scarflet neatly around the neck—no pins or buttons required.

Students will learn the fundamentals of intarsia, including managing multiple yarns, preventing holes at color changes, and keeping tension even across color blocks. We’ll also cover the unique techniques required to work intarsia in the round and how to seamlessly transition between flat and circular knitting. A key focus of the class is design: students will be guided through creating their own custom intarsia colorwork chart, learning how to plan motifs and translate an idea into a knittable design.

This class is ideal for adventurous knitters who are comfortable knitting flat and in the round and are ready to explore colorwork design in a wearable, modern accessory. Students will leave with a strong understanding of intarsia techniques and a personalized chart to complete their one-of-a-kind scarflet.
